Interchange
The Interchange is an efficient server-based solution that links
individual voice or multimedia messaging systems to an Interchange
server. With its unique "store-and-forward" approach to
networking, the Interchange receives messages, performs the necessary
protocol conversions, and delivers the message to one or multiple
recipients. This "hub-and-spoke" network topology is far
more flexible, simpler to manage, and easier to expand than conventional
point-to-point connections where each messaging system is directly
linked to every other messaging system.
Each messaging system requires only a single connection to the Interchange server and new systems can be easily added without affecting existing servers. All message routing, protocol conversions,
administrative functions, and management capabilities reside on the Interchange server so that the infrastructure is less costly to create and easier for administrators to manage.
